The Idea- A group of college students [NIT-Surat] decided that they will teach the unprivileged kids of laborers who are working for different construction activities in their campus and with this came the Idea of Nirvana
People Involved- Swapnil Final year student of Production Engg along with some of his friends took this novel initiative .A local medical store near by their college supported financially for stationary and other basic needs. Other team members were Robin ,Utsav, Sagar, Binu, Vaishnavi, Prashant, Shishir,Divya,Jibin,Sandeep, Abdul,Shubham,Madhumita,Manan,Saumya, Bhavya, Vishwanathan, Hitarth,Aditya,Utkarsh and Abhishek
Details [as provided by one student of NIT-Surat]:-It was started by Swapnil and his friends. Students attending the school are the children of workers working on our campus. Around 20 students attend the school. The school is run in the evenings from 6 to 8 pm. with one to one teaching i.e. one student from SVNIT to take care of one child. It’s done voluntarily. Any one who is willing interested and can spare around 6-8 hours a week can take care of the teaching and will be taken as a team member. The stationary required (slates chalk etc) are sponsored by Jigar bhai (Ravi medicals). No fee collected from students and they need not acquire any stationary for themselves.
The teaching is also very informal and friendly.. Mostly taught through games and fun.
At the end of last sem a small session was conducted for interacting with the parents of those children and educating them on need for education, hygiene etc. It was a grand success was conducted in staff club .
