Journey of experiment with reforms began with "Drishti" and now next experiment is about to shape up.With God's Grace "Disha" a mission for socio-economic development of unpriviledge sections of the society is going to be registered in next few days.Disha as a whole will be begning its operation as two fold organisations.
1) Disha- A Social Enterprise- which will be registered under Indian companies act 1956.It will be a profit making venture dealing with handicrafts. Being Social enterprise parallely it will be distributing a part of profit to the artisans who are currently being exploited by middle men. Remaining part of the profit will be diverted to the second arm of Disha-the development agency. Need for establishment of the arm- Social Enterprise was felt as NGO/development agencies which are dependent upon external funding fully usually face fund crises and thereby development work takes a back seat and sustainability of the organisation becomes the top priority.So This Social enterprise will be the direct and dependable source of funding for development wing of Disha.
2) Disha- A development agency wil be registered as under Indian SOciety act 1860 and will be a development agency cum NGO. Intially we are targetting four comapritively poorer states of India- Bihar,Jharkhand,Chattishgarh and Orissa. Working would be based at Ranchi. Major work areas would be microfinance,education, Model Village development, child beggar issue, orphans and at later phases would be diversifying the areas.
As on date we are team of three people with Suman Kumar and Shashank Pandey. We will be in need of great moral support from your end.
If Every thing goes fine Disha will soon become a catalyst to support the development of millions.

If Poverty could say that it has any other exremity beyond this i would be really amazed..Supa the village where we have been offered a two months village stay in Jhakrkhand is having population which is morethan 98% below poverty line...implying annual income doesnt cross the basic limit of 50k for these families. there are around 12 handpumps in the village but surprisingy just two are functional.. add to more sadness soil here is full of sand not suitable for cultivation..most of the time these people move out for migration to nearby states where they get inhuman treatment...
Electricity never reached village..after 6 p.m. whole village is swallowed by the darkness..none of the houses ever saw brick .cement combination..implying all kutchcta houses..
barely these people manage their two square meals and that too includes rice and potato s lunch as well as dinner..
for us its just a matter of two months ..and as expected we are eagerly waiting when this two months period will end but for them its story for lifetime unless and untill someone comes and puts his/her hand to improve upon the conditions.
Here i could reaize how rich we are...the top 8% rich population of thwe world

First week Experience in trbal village in Ranchi 1st oct-7oct 2007

Jharkhand known as Sudan of India, is the state which has been allocated to me for my two months field stay as a part of Curriculum at IRMA. Village "Supa" where i have to witness and have an experiential learning of grass root realities is in Ghumla Dist. Today we are leaving for there. GVT-Gramin Vikas Trust is the NGO which is actively functional in the area for the development of the unprivileged mass here and luckily it is our host organisation. Village as expected , doesnt have any pucca houses and electricity. So i guess it will be really an unforgettable period specially for we so called urbanites. Moreover few Naxal groups are highly active here, but as per GVT they fight only with Police and Politicians. I am expecting an entirely different culture over here as this part of the country i am visiting for the first time. With me is another partipant from IRMA - Suman kumar.
